Write William a letter of support and send it to him in prison.              Letters lift his spirits tremendously.
Organize a fundraising activity of your own (and contact us at  wjmcoalition@freemayo.com we can provide guidance). Examples of what can be done include conducting a/an:
bake sale at your church
simple e-mail or letter writing campaign to your friends and colleagues asking them to contribute to the Coalition
benefit concert featuring volunteer performers in your area
cookout in front of a business establishment with a high volume of traffic (be sure to obtain permission from the store first) – selling hamburgers, hot dogs, candy, cold drinks, etc.
event involving a high school or college ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) unit – William  was an Army ROTC cadet at Morehouse College
luncheon, dinner or cocktail party. Depending on size and geographic location of event, representatives of the WJM Innocence Coalition may be available to provide guest remarks.
“justice night” or “freedom festival” at your favorite night club, with voluntary cover charges and partial beverage revenues dedicated to the Coalition
benefit poetry reading, with you encouraging people to write and read poems about justice, Fairness, hope, etc.

Volunteer. We need reliable people to help us with everything from providing administrative assistance and conducting basic research on issues of justice to organizing public demonstrations and making phone calls to other nonprofit organizations that might endorse our efforts. We are also always looking for potential volunteers to provide us with ideas on how they might like to help based on their interests and abilities. If you are interested in volunteering, the first step is to write an e-mail to wjmcoalition@freemayo.com.  Put the word “volunteer” somewhere in the subject line, and then include the following information in the body of the email:

areas of interest or any specific ideas you might like to pursue
e-mail and phone number for us to contact you
